(More customer reviews)I was skeptical about getting an LCD for gaming, but my CRT was making my eyes tired so I figured it was time for a change. I did a ton of research and read many, many reviews in magazines(like Maximum PC) and online. I was all set to order a Samsung 172X with 12ms response time, when I came across the L1720P on sale at Best Buy. tHE 16ms repsone time and good LG reputation caught my attention. Unfortunately, the store display model didn't look very good because they split a video signal for the demonstration display, so I went home and did research on it. I found only positive information online for the 1720P. So, knowing that I had 14 days to return it to best buy, I bought the 1720P, unsure about how it would perform. Well, I have to tell you, it surpassed my expectations. The Lightview feature that automatically adjusts brightness and contrast is awesome, and the 16ms response time makes ghosting in games undetectable. I seriously could not see any ghosting in Far Cry single player and Call of Duty multiplayer. I tested these games on a radeon 9800 pro and a radeon 9600 XT both using the DVI connector. I've heard ghosting can occur more on the VGA connecition than the DVI, but I can't confirm that.
The only complaint I have is that the monitor stand could be more stable. The monitor tends to shake when there is vibration on my desk from playing a game or doing alot of typing. It's not severe shaking, but at times it can be noticeable.
