(More customer reviews)This was our first docking station, and I was looking for something that sounded good and looked great, too. I didn't want anything tacky and large, since I'm funny about the way things look. I bought this dock for my sons, who have basic iPod Shuffles. Although they cannot charge them on this unit, there is none, according to Apple, that both charges and plays for the basic Shuffle; perhaps Apple will work on that next. Anyway, we've found it was a good purchase, because my boys can still play their music, by plugging it in, and I can charge and play my iPhone 3Gs; this was an added bonus, since I had read online that the iPhone was incompatible. Now, there is an error message that pops up, when I dock my iPhone, but you simply click "ignore" and use it anyway. (NOTE: I was given that advice by the manufacturer, and it has proven to be OK) The pipe charges and plays wonderfully, and the remote is very handy, though it can't be used at great distances. And, yes, the remote works when my phone is docked! : ) We're very pleased.
